Intestinal Antigens
Regulate IL4 Homeostasis

IL4 is a key cytokine regulating Th2 type immune response. Previously we found NKT cells provide IL4 at steady state and condition surrounding immune system. We identified an additional source of IL4 in intestine, which are regulated by intestinal antigens like food and microbiome. We are going to identify factors regulating homeostatic IL4 secretion, which will help us to understand how Th1 and Th2 immunity is balanced.

Innate T cell development
in mucosal interface

Innate T cells are primarily localized in mucosal interface and participate in early immune response against commensal or pathogenic micro-organisms. Natural killer T (NKT), mucosal-associated invariant T (MAIT) and γδ T cells are three major types of innate T cells, sharing similar transcriptional programs. We defined three functional subsets of each innate T cell and will test how intestinal antigens regulate their effector differentiation and homeostasis.
